| DANIEL PUGH :
MUSIC BIOGRAPHY My first introduction to music was playing violin. Throughout my school years I played lead violin in the school and the local area orchestra, achieving Grade 8 violin aged 16. ![]() ![]() ![]() I began writing music in my early teen's, using a BBC B Micro computer. I produced a lot of cover versions and original music using the 8-bit sounds of the BBC Micro. These were available for download from the 'bulletin board' (a precursor to the internet), CCL4. You can still find these tracks on some of the current BBC / Acorn emulator and retro software sites (link). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I discovered MIDI and the Atari ST. With a borrowed basic synth, drum machine and four track recorder I produced many tracks. For several years I wrote with the indie band, 'Pavlov'. We released the 'Hailstone ep' on a 7" in 1991 and our cover of 'Blue Eyes' appeared on a tribute to The Wedding Present CD. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Using the moniker 'DJP' I continued to compose my own mix of techno, house and electronica. For around two years a 'lo.fi - collective' played on Internet radio station gaialive.com. Artists and DJ's featured on the shows included Vertical Cat, Osymyso, Richie P, Arch Fiend and Sim T. In 1998 the DJP track 'Shoe Gazer Star Gazer' appeared on the cover mount CD of Future Music. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I'm using a PC running music sequencing software, virtual synths and samplers and creating new music. Inspired by my Classical music training the compositions are multi-layered, structured and melodic. I've a distinctive sound and feel for music production having over 18 years experience. |
